BASS TUB,  KAYAK FISHING ADDED TO AKRON BOAT SHOW

Boaters and anglers will turn the downtown John S. Knight Center into a taste of summer when the 3rd annual Akron Boat & Water Sports Show docks there for 3 days, March 1 – 3.

“The show will focus on the latest in everything from paddle boards and kayaks to high performance pontoons, tow boats and personal watercraft,” says show manager Michelle Burke. “and this year we’re adding new content for those whose particular passion is fishing.”

Burke’s reference is to the addition of the unique Bass Tub. Daily presentations will be conducted from atop this 5,000-gallon aquarium filled with bass. Visitors will learn angling techniques and actually watch the reaction of the bass. In addition, the nearby Fisherman’s Central Fishing Stage will feature daily angling seminars by local fishing experts. But there’s even more.

Kayak fishing is gaining a wide following these days. Once just a simple craft to paddle solo, today’s kayaks can be fishing machines with special additions and new designs that provide all that’s necessary for a full day of angling. And, at the show, kayak fishing seminars will be presented daily in the Sun Valley exhibit.

The many fishing boats slated for display from bass boats to aluminum car toppers just scratch the surface. Dozens of other boats specifically selected to reflect the boating lifestyle on Ohio’s inland lakes will be displayed by dealers from throughout the northeast Ohio region. These include a heavy concentration of family runabouts and bowriders, more pontoons, and the latest in ski and wakeboarding models.

The show will also feature water sports equipment including water skis, towables, wakeboards and wakesurfing boards, plus marine accessories and service displays. And to reflect the boating lifestyle, there will be live music with special foods and beverages to generate the summer atmosphere.

“Whether you want to make waves or ride on top of them,” says Burke, “the variety of water sports being enjoyed by families today keeps increasing. It’s why we anticipate boating enthusiasts from through northeast Ohio will enjoy our boat show this year.”

Show hours will be: Opening Friday (3/1) 12 Noon to 9:00 pm; Saturday (3/2) 10:00 am to 9:00 pm; Sunday (3/3) 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission: $8.00 Adults; Children 12 & under Free.
