From paddle boards and kayaks to high performance tritoons and tow boats, the 4th annual Progressive Akron Boat & Water Sports Show, will again cruise into the John S. Knight Center with more boats and the addition of a full slate of fishing and boating seminars.
“Whether you want to make waves or ride atop them, the variety of water sports being enjoyed by northern Ohio families today keeps growing,” says show manager Michelle Burke, “and it’s why we expect boating and fishing enthusiasts will converge on our boat show again this year.”
The market for boats and equipment, including fishing, is entering its ninth consecutive year of growth in Ohio and nationwide. Manufacturers continue to introduce new models at a record pace and that’s why boat shows continue to be popular places to see, compare and buy.
Specifically, this event will showcase the wide variety of boats well-suited to Ohio’s inland lakes and rivers, ranging from popular pontoons to family runabouts. There will also be displays of related water sports equipment ranging from wake surfing boards to the latest in tubing designs. Moreover, the show’s atmosphere will be “summer beach party,” complete with daily musical entertainment.
Area fishermen won’t be left out, either. A wide variety of fishing boats will be found throughout the show along with fishing tackle and equipment displays. In addition, clinics on prime area fishing targets, like Ohio’s signature largemouth bass, are included in this year’s list of show features.
“This show in Akron is a natural,” says Burke who also manages the Cleveland show in January. “With so many popular waterways within easy reach of the greater Akron-Canton area, this show has been a success because it’s conveniently located in the heart of the market with products suited to this area. And, it’s in a beautiful facility that is the Knight Center,” Burke adds.
